A Family to be Thankful for….
Being married and coming from a divorced home with all sides of family living in the same area makes for a lot of turkey on Thanksgiving! This year has been a bit more calm with the dinners being spread out on different days. For this years Thanksgiving Day we spent the time with my mom and step-dad out at Smith Mountain Lake. We were joined by my mother-in-law who lives in the same area along with my step brother, Justin, my sister, Lara, and her boyfriend, Matt.
Our drive up to the lake was very peaceful and nice. Along the way we passed some turkeys. Jason and I thought it was pretty cool. We wondered how thankful those turkeys were to be wondering around instead of hot on a table somewhere
Here are the Turkeys running away when they saw us.
This was a pretty shot I took along the way. It is of the Smith Mountain Lake Dam.
As we crossed over the bridge there was a man on a boat in the cold weather!
My mom and step-dads cats are as much a part of the family as we are. They were ready for some turkey too!

Dinner got started and it was very good. It included turkey, mash potatoes, green beans, sauerkraut, rolls, the kids stuffing, and a special stuffing with oysters. Yum, Yum! It was fabulous.
Than came the breaking of the wish bone. My sister and her boyfriend tool part in that. Matt won
Now a semi-group photo – Lara, Matt, and Justin
My mom purchased “Snow Buddies” for the girls to watch so they snuck away to a back room for a little while to watch the movie. It was nice because it made time for the adults to talk in a quiet environment!
Some of us were taken over by the Turkey! Out like a light:)
Here is a picture of the kids! This is one of my favorites.

We had a great day together as family. I am so very blessed to have an awesome family, awesome parents and some of the best step-parents I think a person can have. Along with that I get a great sister and brother! That is only some of the family too – there are more and that is just so exciting!
For this years Thanksgiving Day – I say Hooray!
