Halloween 2009
After a day filled with fun – we had a great Halloween in 2009. The girls were raring to go from door to door and pick up some candy. Despite the rain which drizzled off and on almost the whole time the kids had a blast.
Early in the day they attended a Halloween gig at our local YMCA. My mother-in-law took them. There they made some crafts and had their faces painted. They went through a haunted hall-way and bounced around in a big jumpy thing.
When they got back from the Y my family- my dad and sister were at the house to see the kids in costume. We visited for a while and got ready to go out and hit the streets. We were joined by a few friends of ours and my dad, and sister joined as well.
Allie was a dog this year. A pretty simple costume to put together:). We tried to get her walk on all four while trick-or treating but she did not find that amusing at all.
These are some pictures I took of Allie on Friday for her school party. I am using these because they came out the best. For school she was not allowed to wear a mask so we had to improvise. On Halloween she had a pretty cool dog mask that she wore. A picture of her in mask will follow later.
Madison was a jellyfish. I was pretty proud of her costume because I made it. Madison had seen the jellyfish costume in a magazine the beginning of October and decided at that point she was going to be that! Her jellyfish got several comments and chatter!
Most of the past years Jason and I have tried to dress up with kids as well. This year I kind of fell behind and did not get anything put together so as a last minute idea I turned my head into a beehive. It turned out pretty good i think. My hair could have a little longer which would have made beehive a little taller. I will not complain though and the girls really found it interesting.
Jason was amazed with the fact that I bought the pipe cleaners yesterday and came out to the car and began making bees. I just smiled. I love doing things like that.
After we were all dressed and ready to go we headed out. We have a neighborhood about 2 minutes aways from us. It is an awesome neighborhood to trick or treat in and draws a huge crowd every year. The police block the streets off for a few hours and the houses are really close together. Makes it nice and safe for all.
Here are Allie and our friend Matt posing for picture as we wait to cross street into neighborhood. I think this was one of my favorite pictures.
Walking the streets.
Two of our friends went as coal miners – tree cutters – tower climbers – search and rescue guys? Every time they talked to someone they were something different. It made for an interesting night. Here is one of them tying off to a tree. HA!
Here is a friend we met along the way….
The girls at the end of the night. A little wet but thrilled to have their bags full. Madison actually had the benefit from her jellyfish because it acted sort of like an umbrella.
So another Halloween comes and goes…. till next year!
