Daddy and Me Night

Posted on 26 February 2010

Daddy and Me night is a night that Madison’s preschool puts on for the children and their dad’s once a year. It is a very special night for a lot of kids. It is a very special night for Madison because she gets to bring her dad into school. This was probably the most special night because it will be the last time Madison has a daddy and me night at the preschool. She will be starting kindergarten in the fall.

I asked Madison this year if i could tag along. Her response was “No mom, this is our special night! You always get to go. You drop me off and pick me up from school every single day!!!”  I just laughed. She is too funny sometimes.

This night I sent Jason out the door with camera and told him to take many pictures. (knowing in my head that probably wouldn’t happen). He didn’t disappoint. He took only 3! and as he always manages to do he was not in any of the 3 photos he took!

This year Madison’s Daddy and me night started out making an ice cream sundae. (asking Madison she says) They both made their sundae with vanilla ice cream and Madison had colorful sprinkles and Daddy had red and green Sprinkles.

This is where Jason took a couple pictures. Somehow with his great photos skills we missed what the actual sundae looked liked :) Still great pictures though!

Eating ice cream

All done!

Something else they also do for the dad’s is have the kids fill out a little cute poem. Such as My dad is _____ years old. The child than fills in the blank. It always so interesting to see what your child has to say. Plus I think it can be embarrassing for some.

Here was Madison’s from this year. I have made her answers bold and italicized.

MY DAD IS GREAT!

My Daddy is 20 years old. He weighs 8 pounds and is 18 feet tall. His hair is black and his eyes are green. My dad loves to relax by laying down and he likes to wear Army shirts. He loves to cook chicken noodle soup. His favorite TV show is Star Wars and his favorite song is I don’t know. Daddy always tell me secrets. It makes him happy when I get him a prize. When my dad shops he loves to buy clothes. If he could go on a trip he would go to the North Pole and he would take along his clothes. I really love it when my dad  says, “I love you.”

A few things to take notice too and that Jason and I discussed as we read this. Jason enjoyed being 10 years younger! Army shirts is wrong it is supposed to say Omni shirts. What is funny is that the teacher had that wrong last year. Omni is Jason’s work place and so Omni provides work shirts for him, which he wears. As far as Jason cooking that doesn’t happen often and we laughed cause we could not remember him ever cooking chicken noodle. We have no idea where that came from :) Madison is a daddy’s girl so when he says he loves her it means the world!

When I asked Madison her favorite part of daddy and me night she said it was craft time. After listening to her talk I think it was because they had to work together.  Jason helped put the blue paint on Madison’s hand and she put her hand print in the center of the ceramic. From there they alternated turns putting their finger prints one after the other to make a border. Jason’s was green (his favorite color) and Madison’s was red. She was all smiles explaining the process to me.

I think for Madison and Jason it was a very special night – Daddy and Me night!
