Old and New

First and foremost i am so excited to say that Jason came home with the most wonderful surprise for me last night!!!

Sixlets

Mmmm! Mmmm! I LOVE me some sixlets. Growing up in my tween/teen years this was one of my favorite candies.  In the current time it has become very hard to find these little candy coated- chocolates of goodness. Most convenience stores do not carry them anymore :( However to my surprise our little gas station decided to carry a limited quantity (for some reason) and Jason jumped all over and bought them out :)

Needless to say – i have enjoyed!

Today while sitting at the car wash i.e. our bus stop at the top of the hill our very nice Korean neighbor came up to my window. This is not the first time she has approached. So i was not taken by surprise as i had been before.

When we first met I did not really know her at all. Her daughter attends the same school as my oldest and that was all i really knew. She had come up to my window the first time to invite us to dinner. I was a bit surprised but we went and had a wonderful time and i learned a lot about Korean culture. She is a wonderful woman. Very kind. She is here getting her counseling degree at Liberty University.  Since dinner we have continued to chat and are planning another dinner at some point.

Today she came up to the window and i turned to put it down. She politely handed me some candy for my girls and i thanked her. The really cool part – the candy looked like this -

Awesome- i thought, never had any candy written in Korean. Sometimes the simplest of things fascinate me :) I couldn’t read it so i had no idea what it actually was. It smelled wonderful. The smell reminded me of bubblicious gum. So i, with that thought, assumed that is what it was.

My 5yo was the first to try it. I kept asking her if it was gum or not. her first response – “yes it is.” Cool. She than comes back in and says “mom it is gone, i don’t think it is gum.” I ask her if she swallowed it and what she thought it was.Her response ” NO! I did not swallow it and i don’t know what it is.”

Umm –  great if you didn’t swallow where did it go? She had no answer other than she was sure she didn’t swallow it! Wonderful. She is 5 and doesn’t normally swallow gum but in my mind i am thinking there is still a chance that she could so i was not taking her word, (she is 5). i figured i would wait till my 8yo got home from school because she is better at details :)

So i waited. When 8yo got home i had her try some and she confirmed that the candy was in fact not gum but chewy candy. Still awesome and the good news the girls thought it tasted really good.

So today our day was filled with old and new sweet treats!! Mmm! Mmm!
