The Fabulous Five….
So I am late in posting something about my youngest’s birthday. Her Birthday was 2 days ago October 14, 2009. Now of course she had an early birthday – her “unreal” birthday which was fantastic. She really enjoyed. Her real birthday ended up being just as great.
The night before she had asked me how many days left until her birthday. I took her to the calendar and showed her the date and we counted. I said “none”. That the next day was her birthday. She looked at me and said “na ah. you’re lying.” Hmm… I have no idea why she said this. We had been counting down the days for a week now. Each day that went by we marked off on the calender. So why the night before she thought i was a liar I have no idea. It took her sister to say “yes tomorrow is the day” for her to agree.
So the morning we woke up i put my iTunes on and starting playing all the happy birthday songs I have real loud (it is about 5). Last year I bought a song that actually said “Happy Birthday Madison.” She always gets real shy when they start singing her name. Me being quirky as i am think it is pretty cool.
Madison received a pair of crazy glasses from my step mom Ann that she was to wear for a bit. We took a picture of her in them. She smiled real pretty!

For lunch i took her to a place called La Villa. It is an Italian restaurant. I met a friend of mine there who also has a little girl that Madison is real good friends with. This was going to be the test. For her 5th birthday, Madison was thinking that when she turned 5 all her shyness was going to go away and she wouldn’t be shy anymore. You see I have a very, very, very, very, shy little girl. So much so it drives me up the wall sometimes. At La Villa we know the owner pretty good. He always comes over and says hi. Chats with us. So today when he came over was Madison all of the sudden going to full of words and smiles? NO of course not:) she shut down and wouldn’t even look at him. It was ok though. He is used to that and she still got her double scoop of ice cream for her birthday and she managed to work out a very quiet “thank you.” No rush someday the shyness will go away!
Madison and I leaving for La Villa. A webcam shot.

We took it easy for the afternoon. She had many phone calls with people wishing her a happy birthday. And lots and lots of people through the social networking sites wish her a happy birthday!! It was great because she asked me at one point “Hey mom it is really nice but are all those people real?” She doesn’t quite understand Facebook and Twitter yet:) and that’s ok!
For dinner she decided she wanted to go out to Cracker Barrel. We met my Dad and Ann and my step sister Kristi for dinner. Madison order chicken fingers and applesauce for dinner. My dad came in carrying glow sticks. A necklace for the birthday girl. For gifts Madison got a much needed winter coat from my step mom, Ann. She also got her a really cute jumper. Madison loves dresses! Ann just got back from a little vacation from San Fransisco so she got both girls cute little bags from china town.

Madison also received her first ever bag of mini hot dogs! She was so confused at first. hint…..they are gum:)

Along with firsts – My dad got Madison her first ever marshmallow gun. I must say “WAY COOL!” At the restaurant the boys i.e. grown men be getting themselves into trouble along with my 8yo. My dad just sits and laughs cause that is exactly what he knew it would do:) Now that it is at home it has been the entertainment and Madison has been working on her aim! I have about had it with marshmallows hitting me in the face!

Learning how to shoot! Now having learned she shoots with a smile!

After all said and done. Another great day was had. Madison had a great week and great birthday. She will have to wait another year for another birthday.
When I asked her today did it feel Fabulous to be five this is what she said to me -
“I don’t know. I have been four for so long…I still feel four!”
