The church that I am a part of Lynchburg First Church of the Nazarene decided to help 600 families in need by providing a food box filled with the basic staples for a Christmas dinner. That included things such as stuffing, cans of vegetables, a dessert box, mac and cheese, pineapple and so on. All these items are provided and brought in by the people of the church. Donations can also be made.  Hams are included in each box.

Work for a project like this begins early in the year. In 2009, 300 Christmas boxes were handed out. This year of course it was doubled. Flyers are passed out after Thanksgiving and phones calls began to come in. People sign up for the Christmas boxes. It makes for a very busy time. I love being a part of this. In 2009 i answered the phones and this year I was in the office most days answering. I heard the voices of so many that were very thankful for the small gift they were receiving.

600 boxes with all that food is a lot to fill so we have one night where the many volunteers get together and work as a team to fill them. This year was such a success with so many that came out!

Our church held two small Christmas services 300 people each where we celebrated the reason for Christmas and at the end of each service the boxes were disturbed. Again without the help of so many wonderful volunteers this would not be possible.

In 2009 due to lots of snow we were not able to have the Christmas Service so this year was amazing to be able to see the faces of many people that I had been talking to on the phone. Nothing make me happier then being able to help someone else! So to be a part of this project is perfect. God is Good!

This year I really wanted to make sugar cookies like my nanny always did with my sister and I.  From scratch! Growing up that was SO much fun.  We would have flour everywhere.

So last night with the help of my new mixer I made the sugar cookie dough.

My mom and step dad came down this afternoon to join in the fun.  and so it began… Flour, Rolling pin, cookie cutters, sprinkles, and little kids
