Bringing in 2010….

Last night with three friends - an old high school friend, a new friend, and a friend I had yet to meet -- I set out on a New Years Eve Adventure!

This is something new for me. Many past New Years Eve nights I have spent my time with the great Ryan Seacrest on Dick Clarks Rockin New Years Eve :) Whoo Hoo!!

So this year on December 31st, 2009 when I saw a tweet come through from the friend I had most recently met and it said that she was wanting to go this 80″s dance event with hosts K92 (awesome local radio station) for the New Year  I got all excited and tweeted right away that I had been thinking about going but was not about to walk in by myself. :) It was in Roanoke which is about an hour away from where I live.  So she and the other 2 girls who I believe have all been friends for a while decided they would go. They together as a group do some really cool stuff! Anyway they let me tag along! YAY!

So I began getting prepared…..

Putting on my face. Ha! actually I don’t think I put on that much face. Au natural’s how I roll most of the time.  However a little never hurts some of the time ;)

Checkin me self out -- How do I look? It was not really 80’s ish but it was ok.

I left early and drove myself. I could have ridden with the girls but I needed to leave early and run by my sister’s house to pick up my ticket. My sister and her boyfriend live in the Roanoke area and it ended up being cheaper to by ticket at the center than purchasing it over the phone. $10 cheaper!!!! It was nice I got to her house about an hour early so I got to spend some time and watch the Chick fil-a bowl. We are a Virginia Tech family :) and I must add they ended up winning!

While watching the game I guess we stopped paying attention and the dog had a little too much!

(P.S. -- no animal was harmed during photo shoot nor was alcohol given at any point!)

At about 9pm the rest of the party arrived and I met them at the Roanoke Civic Center. I made it in with no problems other than an officer of the law wanting to know what I was wearing on my pocket. I said it was my lifeline i.e. my insulin pump. He smiled and said he could let that go. I briefly thought in my head, I sure hope so cause if you don’t I just wasted my money cause it is not like I can take it off !

Once inside -- the place rocked. The Band was on a break so I found my party. They had a table. There had hors d’oeuvres and beer and water. I stuck with water for the whole night but was not real thrilled about paying $3 a bottle especially when the beer was $5. It was ok though cause with all the dancing I needed to stay hydrated!!

The band came back on and the DANCIN started. There name of the band was 80z-Enuff and they were absolutely fabulous. Once we were on the Dance floor we didn’t stop. All 80’s they play one after the other. It was GREAT!!!! I sang every song and danced non-stop! The only real breaks we took for four hours were when the band took a break and when it was time for the new year count down.

Here is a video I tried to record. I really am not good at that yet. I have my little camera and that is not great quality more importantly than that I am not comfortable about recording myself in front of a bunch of people. How ever I must mention that the function did have their own Camera and Video guy there. I got up and sang right into the camera! I was quite proud of myself! Ah HA!

When it came time for the Count down to the New Years the Roanoke Civic Center had a star that they were going to drop.  Sort of like the ball in NY. Roanoke is known for the lit up star they have on one of their mountains hence the falling New Years star :)

So we counted 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

So after the 12am fun part we danced till about 1:15am and then parted ways.

Reminder -- I had no alcohol -- this was just fog!

I made it home safe and sound though and had no incidents involving other cars or police!

I had one of the best of times.  So much fun. It was lovely to get out and enjoy life for a bit.
