Learning A New Trick

January 20th, 2010 amanda 1 comment

No.. No.. not a magic trick if that is what anyone was thinking!

Although there are times when I secretly wish I could wave my magic wand like they do on the Wizards of Waverly Place or wiggle my nose like Samantha and do a little trick. Ohh i think that would be fun! Nothing bad though :)

This new trick I am trying to learn seems to be sort of popular now a days and I have seen it all over the place. Jason had tried on many occasions to explain it to me but I would not listen.  He and I have seen it on commercial breaks and magazines. And today I came across an internet article that talked about it as well. So with that I decided to dive a little deeper and figure out how I could learn or teach myself what they call Tilt-Shift Photography. Making things look miniature. Having to do with movement.

Very Basic Idea Info is:

There are different ways to do this. One is with the type of lens you have when shooting your pictures. The right lens captures the tilt-shift. If you do not have the lens than there are ways to get the tilt-shift effect with editing after the fact using Photoshop or other software.

It is really really cool looking when done right. The instructions I found were quite easy. I was surprised. I think it is more a matter of finding the right picture!! Something I had a bit of trouble doing today. I did not go out and take any new pictures (which may have been way easier) for trying my new trick. I tried to go through my 18,000 I have here on my computer. Ha! Ha! Easier said than done :)

Anyway I played around with a few photos that I found. It is fun.  A few of the pictures came out fairly decent. Some were eh. I am going to keep on working though. That is how you learn. I love photography!!

These I’m callin my Mini Marines.  Again i am not real sure if this is what it is supposed to look like but it is not horrible? To see any of the pictures a little better just click on them and it should blow them up right away.

A Bridge – Something a little different

Philly – but i don’t think i got this one :) The mini effect anyway

Cemetary

The lake and docks

Finally My church entrance

I think I like this one the best. I like the way it came out
