However this is one of those times where I have caught one of those “more then a cold but not the flu” type virus’s. I want to stay in bed all day, don’t sleep at night, and want to kick the kids outside… permanently :)

With two full days of nothing but rest I hope maybe tomorrow will be the day I start to feel better…fingers crossed.

This morning Nancy woke up sick and when Lara took her to the emergency vet she passed away.  Nancy has spent 8 wonderful long years with Lara. She has left us all with many memories. Of course because I am crazy with a camera when she was with me I took some pictures which I would like to share with you. Anybody that has pets knows that they become a part of you and your family. You love them and when they die you miss them. We are going to miss Nancy. My sister is going to miss her bunny and it is going to take time for that place to heal in her heart.

Bunny’s like to poop a lot. They do it while they hop around. So I decided while Nancy visited me she would where a diaper and it worked out well

As I have blogged about in the past my nanny and grandpa passed away a few years back. They were a HUGE part of my life. I still miss them EVERYday!! When they left they left a big hole in my heart one that has been very hard to fill. One that I don’t know think will ever be filled.

I attend church. I went back to church after my grandpa passed away about 5 years ago. I have become more involved in the last few years and made many friends. One of those friends would be an 81-year-old man name Riley and his wonderful wife named Myrtis. They in fact just celebrated their 56 year wedding anniversary! Riley is in charge of the greeter, information, and coffee stations at our church. He is also knowledgeable with plants and loves to help keep them alive. Riley recruited me several months back to sign up for coffee and so our friendship began. Riley is funny, has a beautiful smile and loves God. He teaches me things and I teach him things. My name for doing the coffee is Amanda Hamlin, coffee concierge! Which Riley later looked up in the dictionary to be a coffee slave so that is now my name that he calls me the “coffee slave” and I am ok with that. When he and Myrtis go on a trip  (they love the beach) they always c bring back a treat for the girls!

Riley, his wife Myrtis, and many others have not closed the hole that was left in me but they have helped to make it feel better. They are kind, and loving, and full of wonderful information. They are good people.

A few weeks back while in church Riley was not feeling well. I was doing my coffee slave duties and hoping that as the week went on Riley would be feeling better. Later in the week I got an email saying that he had been admitted to the hospital and the news was he had cancer. My heart sank.

Today Riley is at home and on chemo and weak and not well so I guess we wait and pray that the therapy is doing its job.

I talk to Riley just every Sunday on the phone  but I miss his smile at church and my heart is sad.  It is times like these when I wish my emotions didn’t run so deep. Questions fill my mind. You are reminded of how precious life is. I don’t like having to watch him or his family have to go through this. It brings back memories.

I don’t know what the future holds right now but  I love Riley and Myrtis and my heart hurts…
